Hey everyone!👋
I have been tagged by Emma @ The Bookish Underdog to take part in the Books to Read in Pairs tag. Thanks so much, Emma!💜 Make sure to give her fabulous blog a peek for awesome reviews, tags, and more!
This tag was created by YouTuber Jen Campbell, whose videos I haven’t seen yet, but may do so soon!
So basically, for this tag, you are required to choose books that you think would go with each other well, similar to a “If you like this, then you’ll like this” algorithm. To choose books, I’ll be randomizing my Goodreads ‘read’ shelf and taking whatever book shows up at the top and finding a book that is like it.
So without further ado, let’s begin!
The Mother-Daughter Book Club/Jessica Darling’s It List
Both books deal with the ‘nitty-gritty’ of middle school such as crushes, new friends, popularity, homework, and more. I’d definitely recommend both of them to a girl just starting (or in the middle of) middle school!
Anna and the French Kiss/Starry Nights
What can I say?? Both books take place in PARIS!😍😍
The Unlikely Hero of 18B/Where You’ll Find Me
Both books deal with mental health in a way that makes teens readers comfortable while not sugar-coating things, if you get what I mean. If you are looking for some more diverse reads to add to your TBR stack, look no further than these two amazing, light-hearted books about darker topics.
The Siren/Welcome to Sortilege Falls
I don’t really know what specifically got me to link these two together, but they are both sci-fi/fantasy reads with great characters and morals, so I’d suggest that you check them both out!
I’ll Give You the Sun/The Time Capsule
These two books both deal with sibling relationships as well as loss, so anyone looking for family-oriented contemporaries rather than the typical romance should check these out!
Fangirl/Every Exquisite Thing
Both protagonists of these books are bookish introverts, and are very passionate about what they do. I’m sure that Cath and Nan would become besties if they met!💜
Second Chance Summer/If This Is Home
Both of these books deal with a teen losing a parent to cancer, and though they aren’t the happiest of reads, they were both amazing, and I’d 100% recommend them for coming-of-age novels.
The Truth About Forever/The Romantics
Both books were adorable, fluffy romances with an emphasis on finding your true love, as well as finding out what the actual meaning of love is. They both made me smile so much!😊
My Life Next Door/The Unforgettables
These two books both have the trope of falling in love with a neighbour, and I can’t help but recommend both of them to you for pure cuteness!❤️
George/Symptoms of Being Human
Last but not least, in my opinion, these are two of the MOST IMPORTANT READS you can ever find in middle grade and YA fiction. They both revolve around gender identity, which is something that is not explored too often in daily life. Once you read them, I assure you that your whole perspective of life will change for sure!
I tag…
- Tinder Box and Trinket
- Ana @ Nerdy Bookworm
- Hannah @ little sea little me
- Tien @ Tien’s Blurb
- Ellie @ Ellie’s Reviews
As I always say, feel free to take a pass or participate in this if you’d like, it’s no problem👍. I’m really looking forward to seeing your picks!☺️
So tell me, what are some books that you think go well together? Do you (dis)agree with any of my choices? Let me know in the comments below.
Au revoir!💜
Ooh I might have to read the Matthew Quick one. I loved Silver Linings Playbook and Fangirl. I love the adder challenge of using the random option as well!

This is super cool. I think it helps a lot when you’re in a reading slump and you don’t know what to read next!
