Rapid Fire Book Tag🔥

Hi everyone!☺️

I am back with another tag today, all thanks to the awesome Ann @ Ann’s Reading Corner who tagged me in the Rapid Fire Book Tag. Thank you so much, Ann!💜 I absolutely love her blog, so please be sure to press the link connected to her name to view the amazingness that it is!

This is the Rapid Fire book tag, so my answers are going to be, well, rapid fire. I have already answered most of these questions somewhere on my blog anyway, so most will not require long explanations.☺️

So let’s get to it!

EBooks or physical books?

Physical books! I love the feeling of having a paper book in my hands.💘

Paperbacks or hardbacks?

It all depends. I like the look of hardbacks more, but to read, probably paperbacks because of their lighter weight.

Online or in-store book shopping?

In-store! I just love seeing the physical books and being able to take them home right away.💜

Trilogies or series?

Again, this all depends. If I like a book and want more of the story, I’d say series, but trilogies are often enough to wrap up every last thought and event.

Heroes or villains?

Heroes’ and villains’ backstories are both interesting, but I will have to go with heroes because, well, they’re heroes

A book you want everyone to read?

Besides LFA, SYBG, & SCS, at least one of which I’ve been talking about in almost every tag or Top Ten Thursday post, I’d say that everyone should read Symptoms of Being Human by Jeff Garvin for its morals and diversity.💘

Recommend an underrated book!

Well, the book above🔼 is pretty underrated, but another one that deserves much more love is The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler. YOU SHOULD ALL READ IT! *throws book into your face*😂

The last book I finished:

At the time of writing this, it was This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith. Like all of her books, it was cute, but not my favourite. I gave it 3.5 stars and you’ll be seeing my review for it soon!☺️

Weirdest thing you have used as a bookmark?

Probably receipts left in library books.😂

Used books: yes or no?

Not really to buy, but to borrow, sure!

Top three favourite genres?

  1. Young Adult Contemporary (as you all know by now😂 )
  2. Young Adult Dystopian/Sci-Fi
  3. Young Adult Historical Fiction

Borrow or buy?

As much as I love owning books, I love using the library so I can amass many reads at once and so I can return a book if I dislike it.👌

Characters or plot?

Probably characters. If I can connect to a character, then I am more likely to enjoy the book.

Long or short books?

I definitely prefer short but sweet books!💜

Long or short chapters?

Short ones, they speed up my reading.

Name the first three books you think of:

  1. Run by Kody Keplinger
  2.  The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
  3. Geek Girl by Holly Smale

Books that make you laugh or cry?

Laugh for sure, I really don’t like crying!😂

Our world or fictional worlds?

Our world; I mostly read contemporaries, haha!

Audiobooks: yes or no?

Absolutely not!😟

Do you ever judge a book by its cover?

Yes, I am definitely guilty of doing this. Read all about it here!🙊

Book to Movie or Book to TV adaptations?

Movie adaptations, I usually don’t have the patience to watch entire TV shows.🙅

Series or standalones?

This all depends on the story and whether or not I feel more should be added onto it.

I tag…

  1. Nashaly @ The Book Theater
  2. Madi @ The BookNerd Diaries
  3. Regina @ Bookish in Bed

If you have already done this tag or don’t feel like doing it, I totally understand, but I would love to see your answers to these questions!💘

So tell me, have you read any of the books mentioned? Opinions? Do you (dis)agree with any of my answers? How would you answer any of these questions? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

The Playlist Shuffle Tag🎵

Hi everyone!☺️

Today we’ll be taking a break from the books and talking about music! This is because the fabulous Avi and Vishwa @ Panic at the Bookstore have tagged me to partake in the Playlist Shuffle Tag. Thanks so much, guys!💜 Their blog is awesome, so be sure to check it out ASAP!

The Rules:

Put your music on shuffle and list the first 15 songs to play (no cheating) then tag 10 3 others to do it as well.

Les Chansons:

1. Boom Boom Pow by The Black Eyed Peas

I remember being a fan of this song when I was younger, haha! I also remember having a dance to this song at a dance camp a couple of summers ago.☺️

2. I Wanna Go by Britney Spears

Honestly, I don’t have much of an opinion about this song. I guess it’s alright, though I haven’t really listened to it in a while.

3. Get Lucky by Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams

Aww, I loved this song! I still listen to it sometimes for its funky feel.✌️

4. Boyfriend by Justin Bieber

Yeah, I like both this song and Justin Bieber. I really like how he’s matured lately, so now I’ve been showing him and his music much more love.💘

5. One More Time by Daft Punk

This song is older than me, and honestly, I don’t love it. Daft Punk’s newer stuff is a lot better.👌

6. I’m in Love with a Monster by Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony is probably my favourite band right now. I’ve never disliked a song of theirs, and their songs are all so uplifting and happy! This one is from the movie Hotel Transylvania 2 (it’s very funny, by the way).

7. Body Work by Morgan Page feat. Tegan and Sara

I’ve gotten kind of sick of this song, but I do think it’s great for, well, body workouts.😂

8. Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People

I really like the beat of this song, but the lyrics? Not so much.🙅

9. Glowing by Nikki Williams

I literally haven’t listened to this song for SO LONG. I remember it wasn’t really a favourite of mine, though.

10. Locked out of Heaven by Bruno Mars

I remember being really obsessed with this song when it was popular- I really like Bruno Mars and his music!

11. Remix (I Like The) by New Kids on the Block

Honestly, I forgot that this song was even on my computer, haha! I guess it’s alright.😂

12. Live for the Night by Krewella

This is such a fun song to listen to if you want an instant mood booster!☺️

13. We Found Love by Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris

I really like this song and I’m so thankful that my local radio station still plays it sometimes!☺️

14. #thatPOWER by will.i.am feat. Justin Bieber

Oy, I remember listening to this song on repeat for hours (basically) when it was popular. Haha, I loved it so much!

15. Take Care by Drake feat. Rihanna

I don’t really like most of Drake’s music, and I don’t think that I was the one who downloaded this song. I’m guessing my mom did…?

I tag…

  1. Lisa @ Bookshelf Fantasies
  2. JM @ Book Freak Revelations
  3. Emma @ Among the Pages

As always, it’s completely fine if you guys don’t feel like participating in this, it is ultimately just for fun! I’d still like to see your tastes in music, though!☺️

As you can probably tell, most of these songs are from around the years 2011-2013. This is because I went crazy with downloading songs then, and I literally wanted almost everything I heard on the radio.😂 Now, I’ve limited my downloading and don’t download too many songs. So, I hope you enjoyed this “throwback” to 4-5 years ago!☺️

So tell me, do you listen to any of these songs or artists? Who/what are some of your favourites? What is the first song that comes on when you press “shuffle?” Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

Sunshine Blogger Award 12.0

Hi everyone!☺️

Yep, you guessed it! Here I am again, back with yet another Sunshine Blogger Award! This time it’s all thanks to the amazing Eliza @ Duskangelreads, so be sure to follow her blog! (It ROCKS, by the way!)💜

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 3 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Les Questions:

What fictional character would you choose to spend the day with in their world?

This seems like a question aimed to be answered with a character in a fantasy book, so I guess I’ll go with Harry Potter. I’m just really curious about Hogwarts!

Pick one book that you would choose to completely forget? Whether it be to read it again for the first time or because you disliked it.

Nope, did not like this one AT ALL!🙅

What food would you like to try from a fictional world? e.g. Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans

I usually read contemporaries, and from the fantasies and dystopians that I DO read, I unfortunately don’t pay much attention to small details like the foods. So, I’ll just answer this question with a food I’d really love to try, and that is gelato! Yum!😛

What colour book spines do you have the most of?

I am not with most of my books right now, but I’ll probably have to guess pink or blue.

What is your favourite book cover out of the books you own? Make sure you say which edition it is or add a photo as most books have multiple covers

What’s one item/device you wish you could own from any fictional world?

I’d love to have the invisibility cloak from Harry Potter!😍

Pretty sure I’ve used this question before, but what power/ability do you wish you could have?

I would absolutely LOVE to have the ability to fly, as well as the power to read minds (as long as no one can read my mind, haha!)

What is your favourite genre to read, even if you don’t read it the most?

Seriously? This question again? I’m not even going to answer it this time. Just click here and you’ll find out!😂

Do you listen to audiobooks? Or want to?

No, I don’t listen to audiobooks. I’d rather feel the book in my hands and actually see the words, and if I listened to an audiobook, I’d likely dose off and start daydreaming, honestly.

Where is your favourite place to read?

I love reading in my bed, or on a couch or armchair if I’m in the mood.

Are your book shelves full or have you still got room for more?

Oy, are they full alright! My dollhouse/bookshelf had gotten so full that it was almost about to tip over, so I had to take some books out of it and place them on my bedroom floor.

Yeah. I’m in need of an *actual* bookshelf.🙊

*Not my bookshelf, by the way.*

I nominate…

  1. Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm
  2. LILbooKlovers
  3. Bec @ Bec’s Books

As per usual, do not feel obligated to participate in this award, it’s ultimately just for fun! If you do decide to participate, though, I hope you enjoy answering my questions, which are below:

My Questions:

  1. Where was the last place you travelled, and when was it?
  2. How many physical books do you own?
  3. Under what circumstances would you DNF a book?
  4. What was the last movie you saw in theatres? Did you enjoy it?
  5. Share your favourite meme or GIF!😂
  6. Tell me a teaser sentence from the book you’re currently reading!
  7. What device do you use to write your blog posts (computer, phone, etc.)?
  8. Tell me a little known fact about you that no other bloggers know.
  9. If you could travel anywhere in the world right this instant, where would you go, and why?
  10. What song is stuck in your head right now? (if any)
  11. Give a shoutout to 5 awesome bloggers, and spread the love like confetti!😊

So tell me, have you read any of the books mentioned? Opinions? Would you agree with any of my answers? What would your answers be to my or Eliza’s questions? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

Unique Blogger Award

Hi everyone!☺️

The awesome Ryann @ Ryann the Reader has nominated me for the Unique Blogger Award. Thank you so much, Ryann, you’re the best!💞 For those who haven’t already seen it, her blog is full of fantastic reviews and tags, so be sure to go give it a peek!

The Rules:

  • Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you.
  • Answer the questions.
  • In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 3 people for the same award.
  • Ask them three questions

Les Questions:

What is your favourite season of the year and why?

It changes all the time, but right now I’d probably have to say autumn. From the picture-perfect scenes, to new starts in school, to Halloween, and to the moderate weather, there is an endless list of things I adore about it!💜🍂

Is there anything you used to do as a child that you wish you had continued? (ex: play an instrument, dance, play a sport)

I did karate as a child, but I don’t find myself wanting to continue it at this time. I also did swimming, and I wanted to keep doing it, but where I did it, there are now no classes appropriate for my age at my level, so I’d have to find someplace else. Also, I *reluctantly* did gymnastics for a very short time, and now as I look back, I wish I’d told 5-year old me to be brave and just do it- I now find myself wanting to “restart” gymnastics!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever read or received?

Oh, I’ve received lots and lots of amazing advice, but I think the best piece of advice I’ve ever received was to simply be myself and not care about what others think about me.💞

Mes questions:

  1. Share your favourite meme or GIF!😂
  2. What song is stuck in your head right now? (if any)
  3. Share a teaser sentence from the book you’re currently reading!

I nominate…

  1. Christen @ Read By Chris
  2. Heather @ Book & Words
  3. Emma @ The Stacked Shelf

If you guys don’t feel like taking part in this award, it’s completely okay with me, but I love all your blogs and I would love to see your answers to my questions!

So tell me, how would you answer my or Ryann’s questions? Is there something you used to do as a child which you’d now like to continue? What is your favourite season and piece of advice? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

My Life in Books Tag

Hi everyone!☺️

The super fantastic Ann @ Ann’s Reading Corner has tagged me to take part in the My Life in Books Tag. Thank you so much for thinking of me, Ann!❤️

Her blog totally deserves to be checked out, so be sure to do so before you continue reading this post!😉

This tag is quite a bit different from many of the other tags I’ve done, and I had been waiting to be tagged for quite a long time before I actually was. I can’t wait to write on!

So let’s get on with it!☺️

A book for each initial:

Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen

Divergent by Veronica Roth

Looking for Alaska by John Green

Kids of Appetite by David Arnold

Age- Count along your bookshelf:

The book I have arrived at is Two Summers by Aimee Friedman- such a fluffy, adorable story. It is not very well-known, but I hope that others will get to pick it up in the future!

Book that represents a destination you would love to travel to:

Yum! I haven’t read this book yet, but I’d absolutely love to go to Italy and try gelato!💜

Favourite colour:

Magenta is my favourite! Just look at the colour of this text as well as the colour of my blog and you will see just how much I 💞 it!!

Most difficult read:

My most difficult read ever was most definitely Skybreaker by Kenneth Oppel. I had to read it for school a couple years ago and it all went right over my head.😶

Which book in the TBR pile will you get the biggest sense of accomplishment from?

I am dying to read The Hate U Give, and I hope to feel accomplished after I close the book. It seems like an amazing story full of such important messages, and I just can’t wait to get my hands on it!💜

      I tag…

  1. Mogsy, Tiara & Wendy @ The BiblioSanctum
  2. Ellen @ A Little Book Life
  3. Tabrizia @ cup of tea with that book, please

No worries if you’ve already completed this tag or if you just don’t feel like it, you guys have no obligations to do it! But this tag was a lot of fun to write, and I’d love to see your answers!👍

So tell me, have you read any of these books? Opinions? What is one book title for each of your initials? How would you answer these questions? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

Dreamy Covers Book Tag

Screen Shot 2017-03-30 at 8.59.50 AM.png

(This image was created by Tiana @ The Book Raven)

Hello everyone!☺️

The awesome Laura Beth @ Hot Shot Headlines has tagged me to take part in the Dreamy Covers Book Tag, which was created by the fantastic Tiana @ The Book Raven. Thanks so much for thinking of me, Laura Beth, and to you too, Tiana, for creating such a cool tag! Both of their blogs definitely deserve to be checked out!💘

The Rules:

1. Thank the lovely person who tagged you, spread the love!

2. Mention Tiana @ The Book Raven as the (insert adjective here) creator of this book tag!

3. Use the original tag image in your post. (However, feel free to add whatever other graphics your heart desires!)

4. At least tag one fellow blogger for this tag. Even if you’re like me sometimes and feel a bit lazy 😉

5. List the rules.

Les Questions:

“No Ideas but in Things”: A book cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it

I have to say, the cover of Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between is a SPOT ON representation of what’s inside of it.☺️

“Dark and Lovely”: A book cover that is so creepalicious you want to eat it up

Not the creepiest book ever, but then again, I don’t read creepy books, so😌

“Sugary Sweet” A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug

Luckily, I own a copy of The Unexpected Everything, so I am able to give it all the hugs I desire.💜

“The Simple Aesthetic” A book cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design

The design of the cover of Winning by Lara Deloza is pretty basic, but that colour is STUNNING! This just goes to show that you don’t need a cover full of colours in order to make it shine.

“Cover Envy” A book cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t yet

Look at this cover, guys! It’s SOOOO fluffy and adorable! The sad thing is that I can’t find it anywhere!😟

“Traveling Abroad” A beautiful book cover featuring a country outside of your own

Haha, it is quite easy to find books that take place outside of Canada, so I had virtually no trouble with this question. Anyway, Anna and the French Kiss for the win!💘

“The Color Wheel” A cover that showcases one of your favorite colors

My favourite colour is magenta, so I would have used the cover from the last question, but I didn’t feel like repeating any of my answers. I definitely do like this shade of pink, though!

“Switching Gears” A cover change you absolutely adore

“Oldie but Goodie” A favorite cover of your favorite classic

I like fluffy covers, okay? Don’t judge me!✋

“And the Winner is…” Which book cover mentioned above is your favorite?

It was soooo hard to choose, but Dreamology wins!💖

I tag…

  1. Heidi @ Little Latte Library
  2. Michaela Haze
  3. Nerd Narration Blog

As I always say, you guys are not obligated to do this tag, but I would love to see your choices! Also, anyone else who is not tagged and wants to do it is totally welcome to!💜

So tell me, have you read any of these books? Opinions? What are some of your favourite book covers? How would you answer these prompts? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

Sunshine Blogger Award 11.0

Hi everyone!☺️

My awesome blogger friend Laura @ thebookcorps has nominated me for my 11th Sunshine Blogger Award. Thank you so much, Laura, and you all MUST check out her amazing blog!💞

Anyway, the questions I’ve been receiving for these tags and awards have been getting a little bit redundant, as they are all quite similar and I have been answering them time after time. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you should have literally no trouble guessing what some of my answers to the questions are. For this reason, I will only be answering them in this post using short sentences or pictures. Honestly, I don’t have the patience or the time to type out similar answers to the same questions over and over and over again.

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions set by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and then write 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger award logo in a post/on your site.

Laura’s Questions:

Do you prefer books with one POV or multiple POVs, and why?

One POV, please! Books with multiple POVs often confuse me.

What is the best book you read in high school? (Or primary/elementary for those still in high school)

I am currently in high school, but the best book I’ve had to read so far in my high school career has been… you guessed it, didn’t you? Looking for Alaska!😂

Can you remember the book that got you hooked onto reading?

I’ve always loved reading, but this was my first ever favourite story:

What is a quote from a book that has stuck with you?

“The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.”

-Stephanie Perkins, Anna and the French Kiss

What is your favourite TV show?

Honestly, I haven’t been watching pretty much ANY TV lately, so I don’t have one right now, sorry!

If you could live in one fictional world (book, movie, show, etc), which would it be and why?

Hogwarts! Enough said.😉

Is there a character you absolutely hate? Who and why?

I hate Queen Levana from The Lunar Chronicles- the characters really don’t deserve the trouble that they are getting from her.😞

Who is your go-to author (author who releases a book and you buy and read without looking at blurb)?

Pick your two favourite characters of all time. Now sacrifice one! (The universe is at stake)

It’s Harriet Manners from Geek Girl vs. Penny Porter from Girl Online! Ugh, how will I choose?!?!😫

Okay fine, Penny wins. I’m soooo sorry, Harriet!😟

Is there an author/book you refuse to read? Why?

I can’t think of anything super specific right now, but I’d probably refuse to read any book that is discriminatory against any race, culture, age, gender, and anything of sorts.

What is your favourite genre and why?

Oh my goodness. I get this question in literally EVERY tag and award I receive. Honestly, if you don’t know by now after reading so many of them, I’m just going to give you a quick link to this post so you can learn all about my favourite genre and why I love it so much.😂

I nominate…

  1. Joanne & Bryan @ yaguitarist
  2. Rebecca @ Powder & Page
  3. Hannah @ Fully Booked Reviews

I know that most people have probably already done this award, but I have happily done it 11 times (😂 ) and would love to see your answers to my questions! As always, though, you guys are not obligated to doing this.

So tell me, have you read any of the books mentioned? Opinions? How would you answer my or Laura’s questions? Do you agree that the questions asked in tags and awards sometimes get redundant? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

Mystery Blogger Award 5.0/6.0

Hi everyone!☺️

Today I am back with 2 more Mystery Blogger Award nominations, this time from three amazing bloggers: Debby @ Always Booking as well as Meg & Leah @ Twin Reads. Thanks so much, guys!❤️ For those of you reading who haven’t yet checked out their blogs, you should definitely do so now!

Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.
Okoto Enigma

The Rules:

1. Put the award logo/image on your blog.

2. List the rules.

3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog!

4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link to their blog as well.

5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.

6. You have to nominate 10-20 3 people.

7. Notify each of your nominees by commenting on their blog.

8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify).

9. Share your link to your best post(s) I’ve already done this, oops!

My Facts:

  1. I have an over 700 day streak on Duolingo! It is so fun to play and I love strengthening my French skills on the app.
  2. I have been trying to get into reading more sci-fi and fantasy books lately, but they have all been mediocre (I’m talking 3 star ratings, possibly even 4 if I’m lucky). I need recommendations, guys! Please tell me some good sci-fi or fantasy reads for contemporary romance lovers like me!💗
  3. I have probably already answered at least 75% of these questions below somewhere on my blog, but I’ll answer them again out of respect, haha!

Debby’s Questions:

Who are some of your auto-buy authors?

I don’t buy too many books, so I will be changing this to auto-read authors. Morgan Matson, R.J. Palacio, Lucy Keating, Kiera Cass, Zoe Sugg, and of course my amazing Aunty Robyn Levy are some of the authors whose books I can always count on for a good time!💜

If you could live in one book/series, which would it be and why?

I would love to live in the world of Harry Potter and experience Hogwarts for myself!

What book have you bought strictly because the cover was amazing and the book turned out to be equally amazing??

I always, always, ALWAYS read summaries before picking up a book, no matter how beautiful its cover is. But two amazing books that I could not resist adding to my shelves are:

Shout out your favourite best buddy blogger😄(Not really a question but… eh)

I have so many, including Maddie, Lola, Stephanie, Diana, and Kelly, and I know I’m forgetting a multitude of people, but honestly, you guys are all my blogging besties.💗

Silly question:  Could you please share you favorite funny meme or GIF ??  Thanks!!

I cannot look at this meme without hearing the song blast inside my head!😂

Meg & Leah’s Questions:

What is your favourite way to spend your free time?

Reading and blogging of course, DUH!😉

What is your favourite subject in school?

Since I love to read and write and all, you’d probably presume that my favourite subject is English, but NOPE! I absolutely love French. The language, the culture, everything.🇫🇷

What is your favorite book or TV show?

For books, it is SO HARD to choose between all my favourite babies. But if I had to choose just one, I… ugh. I can’t, sorry. But some of my absolute favourites include Looking for Alaska, Since You’ve Been Gone, Second Chance Summer, Wonder, The Selection, A List of Cages, Everything Everything, Dreamology, and this list could go on for miles, I tell you!

As for TV shows, I don’t currently watch any, so😛.

If you could be anyone else for a day, who would it be and what would you do? (this is the weird one)

Honestly, I know this probably isn’t what is being looked for, but I wouldn’t want to be anyone but myself. I can’t think of a person whose body I’d rather be in, as I could mess things up badly for them, and I am fine with being and staying myself.☺️

If you could describe yourself as a character from a book, which character would it be?

Penny from Girl Online!

My questions:

  1. Where was the last place you travelled, and when was it?
  2. Tell me a teaser sentence from the book you’re currently reading!
  3. What song is stuck in your head right now? (if any)
  4. Under what circumstances would you DNF a book?
  5. Silly: Share your favourite meme or GIF!

I nominate…

  1. Emma @ The YA Hunt
  2. Shouni @ Through the Book Portal
  3. Sarah @ Reviews & Read-a-Thons

No worries, you guys have no obligations to participate, but I’d still love to see your answers!☺️

So tell me, have you read any of the books mentioned? Opinions? Would you (dis)agree with any of my answers? How would you answer my questions or the ones given to me? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

This is My Genre, Tell Me Yours Tag

Hi everyone!☺️

I am back with another tag today, specifically the This is My Genre, Tell Me Yours tag that the awesome Raven @ Dreamy Addictions has tagged me in. Thank you so much for thinking of me, Raven! If you haven’t done so yet, please go check out her fabulous, fun blog!💘

The Rules:

  • Credit  Drew @ TheTattooedBookGeek as the creator of the tag, either use the created tag name graphic or create your own and link back to my blog.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Tag as many people as you want.

Les Questions:

What is your favourite genre?

If you have been reading my blog for all of maybe 2 seconds, you probably already know what it is- young adult contemporary!

Who is your favourite author from that genre?

Oh, I have way too many to count, but the one that sticks out the most is the amazing Morgan Matson! She is best known for her books Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour, Second Chance Summer, Since You’ve Been Gone, and The Unexpected Everything, ALL ultimate favourites of mine.💜

What is it about the genre that keeps pulling you back?

Lots of things, including:

  • The relatableness (not that that’s a word…🙊): I just LOVE being able to relate to a character or a situation in a book!
  • Learning about the world: in fantasy books, you can’t necessarily learn about life and the problems that are faced by society today, which is why I turn to contemporaries to learn more about general current events.
  • The fluffiness: For me, books are an escapism and I like them to make me feel good. Dark fantasies bore me, honestly, and they usually take much longer to read which I don’t like, and since contemporaries are generally happier and shorter, I feel much better after finishing one, and they are short enough for me to read entirely in a day.
  • Their covers: Okay, this may be kind of a bad reason and some people may have different opinions, but covers of contemporary books are just much prettier to my eyes than those of fantasies or dystopians are.

What is the book that started your love for your favourite genre?

I’ve sort of always gravitated to contemporary or realistic fiction books. Something about other genres just never appealed to me when I was younger, so I whipped up realistic fiction book after realistic fiction book. So, I don’t currently have a ‘first ever’ contemporary book in mind, but the first contemporary YA book I read was:

This book that is full of adorableness, Geek Girl by Holly Smale!

If you had to recommend at least one book from your favourite genre to a non-reader/someone looking to start that genre, what book would you choose and why?

Looking for Alaska is not the lightest of reads, but I loved it with all my heart and I just know that others will, too.💘

Why do you read?

Why do I read? What a question! It’s like asking me why I breathe!😂

Anyway, I read because it’s fun and I like to escape from the stresses of my daily life such as schoolwork, social media, and other such things. I like to analyze characters and stories (hence this blog) and find situations and characters in books that relate to me and my life, and see what they did in their places and see how I can apply that into my own life.

Horror Movie Book Tag

Hi everyone!😄

Laura @ thebookcorps has tagged me to participate in the Horror Movie Book Tag. Thanks so much for thinking of me, Laura!💕 Her fabulous blog definitely deserves a follow, so be sure to hop at it!

First, let me get this straight- I do NOT like horror movies. I also do not like horror books. I like fluff in my books and movies, thank you very much.💁

The Rules:

  1. Please credit and link Princess @RoyalReader (or just Royal Reader), as the creator of this tag, and add the rules.
  2. You can use the graphics provided in your post, or you’re welcome to make your own!
  3. Thank the person(s) who tagged you and let others know of their fabulous blogs.
  4. Tag as many people as you want, be it 1 or 20, it’s entirely up to you!

Les Questions:

The Zombie Apocalypse: A book you would save when civilization ends.

If civilization ends, then the amazing Wonder would be the first book I would grab off my bookshelf!

The vampire: A book you thought would stake through the heart (in whatever sense).

Now here’s my latest disappointment: Literally by Lucy Keating. Since I loved her debut, I thought this book would tear through my heart and break it into pieces, but it didn’t really do that. It was still a solid four-star read, but I REALLY wanted to give it five!

The haunted house: A book that still haunts you.

Once again, I am not a horror book reader. So, I will be skipping this question for now, sorry!

The psychological thriller: A book with a twist you did not see coming.

I was going to say my cliché answer of Everything, Everything, but I decided to mention this one since I haven’t in a while. Definitely lots of plot twists in this story!👌

The creepy doll: A book that seems innocent but isn’t.

You Before Anyone Else was a very fluffy, light book… with a catch at about two-thirds of the way in when a big secret is revealed.🙅

The monster: A book you could barely tackle/defeat (in whatever sense).

Basically, Skybreaker defeated me, as I had to read it for school a couple years ago and I disliked it so much. It defeated my grade for that round of lit circles, that’s for sure!😂

The comedy-horror: A book with mixed genres that worked (or didn’t).

More of Me by Kathryn Evans was a recent read that was a good bridge between the contemporary and sci-fi genres. I’d definitely recommend it!👍

The (cliched) teen horror: a book you found super cliched/stereotypical:

Hung Up by Kristen Tracy: the QUEEN of cliché YA books!💁👑

The demonic possession: A book so gripping you needed an exorcist to escape it:

It’s been a while since I completed this series, but it was definitely just SO gripping!😉

The science fiction: a precious book you would permanently give to the aliens for the good of mankind:

Because mankind needs to know about Looking for Alaska for sure!👌

I tag…

  1. Sarah & Faith @ Sublime Reads
  2. Ikram @ Ikram Reads a Lot
