Title: Zenn Diagram
Author: Wendy Brant
Genre & Age Group: Contemporary, romance, young adult
Eva Walker is a seventeen-year-old math genius. And if that doesn’t do wonders for her popularity, there’s another thing that makes it even worse: when she touches another person or anything that belongs to them — from clothes to textbooks to cell phones — she sees a vision of their emotions. She can read a person’s fears and anxieties, their secrets and loves … and what they have yet to learn about calculus. This is helpful for her work as a math tutor, but it means she can never get close to people. Eva avoids touching anyone and everyone. People think it’s because she’s a clean freak — with the emphasis on freak — but it’s all she can do to protect herself from other people’s issues.
Then one day a new student walks into Eva’s life. His jacket gives off so much emotional trauma that she falls to the floor. Eva is instantly drawn to Zenn, a handsome and soulful artist who also has a troubled home life, and her feelings only grow when she realizes that she can touch Zenn’s skin without having visions. But when she discovers the history that links them, the truth threatens to tear the two apart.
Zenn Diagram, Wendy Brant’s sparkling debut novel, offers an irresistible combination of math and romance, with just a hint of the paranormal. Readers will swoon over Zenn and connect instantly with Eva, the most fully drawn prodigy in teen fiction today.

How I Found Out About It: Netgalley
Ohhhhh my goodness. This book rocked. It was fluffy, unique, swoon-worthy, adorable, plot-twisty… and it was basically everything I could ever want out of a romance book! If I had the choice, I’d probably read it over and over and over again.
The deciding factor that made me read this book had to have been that cover- can’t go wrong with math equations!- and the super intriguing synopsis. I basically knew right away that I would devour this book, and I think I could go even farther to say that I fell in love❤️.
For a brief synopsis, Zenn Diagram centres around 17-year old Eva, who is what one would call a typical ‘math geek.’ She gets straight As, she’s near the top of the class, but she isn’t really popular, and whenever she touches someone else or their belongings, she sees their emotions and thoughts, and it keeps her from gaining close relationships with anyone. That is, until she meets Zenn, from when she tutors him for math. By touching his jacket, Eva knows that his home life is down in the dumps, yet she’s falling for him, and hard. But this is where Eva’s inability to touch comes in- will it keep her from getting the guy she wants?
I have to admit, this was like a contemporary version of Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. This is by no means a bad thing (at all!), but I just wanted to point that out, as Eva and Juliette are both unable to touch others and both have special talents to use to their advantages.
Anyway, I really loved and was able to relate to the characters in this story, notably Eva. I was easily able to find a kindred spirit in her as we both adore math, and as well are quite shy and introverted. She wasn’t afraid of being true to herself, and she almost never whined, which is unlike most teenage protagonists I read about😊. Eva also had a great sense of humour; I smiled so much because of things she said and did! If I were to make another list of characters I was able to relate to the most, she’d be going right on, without a single doubt!
I’d have to say that Zenn has just become yet another gorgeous new book crush of mine. He was adorable, and I absolutely loved his passion for art; we don’t see that very often in YA fiction! I also thought that he and Eva were very cute together, and I 100000% ship them. I’d love to read more about their story!❤️
The plot twist that occurred at about 2/3 of the book was totally unpredictable. Like, I didn’t see that coming at all, and my mouth hung open. After it was revealed, I basically sat on the edge of my seat for the rest of the book; I just couldn’t put it down!
All in all, this book was mesmerizing and addicting, and I adored it with all my might. I do think that the author could have weaved the not being able to touch part a bit more into the plot, because I didn’t really get why it was necessary. That absolutely didn’t ruin the book for me, though, it’s just that if it was explored a tiny bit more, this book would’ve received .5 more stars from me😉.
I’d recommend this awesome book to any teen looking for a relatable protagonist, great writing, and a swoon-worthy romance, because you will not want to miss Zenn Diagram! Mark your calendars for April 4th, then go and rush to your local bookstore or library to pick this up!😊
