Hi everyone!☺️
Ann @ Ann’s Reading Corner has tagged me to take part in the How I Choose My Books Tag. Thanks so much, Ann!💜 If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, then you need to stop reading this and do so now, you will not regret it!😄
This tag was created by Emma @ The Bookish Underdog, so be sure to check out her fabulous blog as well☺️.
Without further ado…
Find a book on your shelves with a blue cover. What made you want to pick up this book?
I first found out about this book on Goodreads, and when I saw it signed at my local Indigo store, I decided to buy it. I really liked it, so I’m happy I did😄
Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy, but did. Why did you read it in the first place?
As most of you probably know, The Hunger Games is one I was hesitant to pick up, but I did and it blew me away. The main reason why I picked it up was HYPE, and as well, I just really wanted to see what everyone else was falling in love with.
Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick up a book at random. How did you discover this book?
Thanks to my majestic hand for picking Cinder!😜 I discovered this book from Goodreads and also because of hype, and haven’t looked back since.❤️
Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you. What did you think of it?
I’m sure recommendations on the blog count, because after my rave review of Since You’ve Been Gone, bloggers were up my necks recommending Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour to me. And I did really love it, but Since You’ve Been Gone is still my favourite Matson book.❤️
Pick a book that you discovered through YouTube/book blogs. Did it live up to the hype?
Everyone was becoming OBSESSED with Holding up the Universe, so I decided to check it out. It turned out to hold a very special place in my heart.💞
Find a book on your shelves or e-reader with a one word title. What drew you to this book?
I actually first heard about Wonder through school, as my librarian was raving about it and always trying to get us to read it. When my class visited one time, she read us the first chapter, and I was hooked!
What book did you discover through a film/TV adaptation?
I don’t own this one, but I found out about the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book wayyyy after I first saw the movie, and only managed to pick it up this summer.
Think of your all-time favourite books. When did you read these and why did you pick them up in the first place?
AHHHHH I have so many! Most of them were read over the past year or so because that’s only when I started getting into YA, and I will be listing some of those reads below:
- Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson- found from Goodreads and I was intrigued by the bucket list concept
- Dreamology by Lucy Keating- found from Goodreads and I fell in love with the cover and synopsis
- The Selection by Kiera Cass- found from a fun quiz telling me what to read next, and I was intrigued, so I decided to try it
- Looking for Alaska by John Green- had to read it for school and I absolutely loved it
- Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon- found from Goodreads/blogging, and I fell in love with the cover and synopsis
… And it goes on and on and on!😄
I tag…
And YOU!!✌️
Feel free to participate in this or take a pass if you’d like, no obligations😉 .
So tell me, have you read any of these books? Opinions? Where do you find most of your books from? Do you usually like books recommended to you? Let me know in the comments below.
Au revoir!💜
Great tag, Kayla! 🙂 I find it hilarious how we end up choosing our books sometimes hahaha. And it’s usually the ones we don’t think too much thought that surprise us the most.

I read Since You’ve Been Gone only because I was bored and it was on my little sister’s shelves, but I’m really happy I did because I loved it!

I’ve been debating about reading Wonder for a while now. Both my mom and my sister who doesn’t read love this book, and they keep telling me I need to check it out. I might have to someday soon!

I actually haven’t read any of these books, although I have read the last two HG novels (not the first though).

You haven’t read the first Hunger Games? Did you watch the movie instead?

Yeah. I have a problem where I can’t get into the book if I already know what happened. The details in the book really throw me off and I end up really confused

I sometimes feel like that too… But I always try to read the book first👌

Hi Kayla –
This post caught my attention. I may try to answer the Qs – in a week or so after I finish year end posts.
I have Cinder in my early TBR list this year as I never got to it last year. Happy Reading!
