Top Ten Thursday #29

Hi everyone!👋

So you may remember my post from back in May which stated some books I’ve embarrassingly never read, but if not, you can read it here.

Anyway, I’ve actually gotten to read 8/10 of those books since then (yay me!✌️), with Twilight and The Fault in Our Stars still unread. That post was a ton of fun to write, so for this week’s Top Ten Thursday, I’ve decided to update you guys with a list of 10 new popular books I’ve yet to read. Hope you enjoy!😂

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you probably know that I don’t read much fantasy. Six of Crows is one of the most popular YA fantasies out there right now, and I may give it a try one day… It’s out of my comfort zone, though.

PLEASE don’t get mad at me… but I haven’t read ACOTAR, for the same reasons as above. Pretty much every blogger on the face of the earth has fallen in love with it, so I’m guessing I should pick it up one day to see what all this hype is about.

Illuminae seems really interesting and unique, and again, all the bloggers are loving it! I’m hoping to get to this ASAP, it’s just that its size intimidates me…

I recently added The 5th Wave onto my everlasting TBR, so I’m hoping to get to reading it ASAP, and seeing what I think of it!

I have some friends (real life and blogger) who are obsessed with the Percy Jackson books, and they seem pretty interesting, though lengthy.

6.

I honestly don’t know why I haven’t read The Book Thief yet! It looks amazing, and Holocaust stories fascinate me! It’s probably just because I haven’t been able to get my hands on it, but who knows?!😬

7.

I read and adored Holding up the Universealso by Jennifer Niven, so this book is high up my radar!

8.

I’ve mentioned this before, but the reason why I haven’t read City of Bones is because I’m just not interested. That’s all there is to it.

9.

Here’s another super popular series by Sarah J. Maas that I haven’t read! I’m sure I will in the future, though.👍

Last but not least, I haven’t read The Raven Boys series by Maggie Stiefvater. I’ve heard very good things about it, so I’m sure I will give it a try someday.

So tell me, what are some popular books YOU’VE never read? Are you willing to admit to not having read any of these, as well? If you’ve read any of these, would you recommend them? Let me know in the comments below.

Au revoir!💜

  1. I haven’t read 10, 6, 4 or 3! I recommend the Sarah J. Maas books, All The Bright Places, City of bones, and Six of Crows. I wouldn’t recommend Percy Jackson as much per se, as I found it very middle-grade and it took me 5 months to read it! Maybe still give to a go, see how you like it?

  2. This is a fantastic TBR pile. I finished The Raven Boys myself a few days ago, and although I didn’t fall absolutely in love with it like the majority of the bookish population, I did think it was good enough for me to want to continue the series.
As for ACOTAR and Six of Crows, both are the best fantasy series I’ve read this year. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on them if/when you decide to pick them up. The Book Thief is one of the few historical fiction novels I genuinely enjoyed.
Personally, the 5th Wave was pretty good, but I feel as though it fit into just about every other dystopian/sci-fi trope out there. The Fault in Our Stars, in my opinion, is overrated. I would definitely recommend you read All the Bright Places, though. It was the best book I’ve read this year, and I hope you love it as much as I do!
I actually read the Percy Jackson series before the Harry Potter series, and both are excellent. I fell in love with mythology after reading the former, and the Wizarding World after reading the latter. I hope to start the Throne of Glass series soon, too. It’ll help with the agonizing wait for A Court of Wing and Ruin (the third book in the ACOTAR series).
    Happy reading, Kayla! x

  3. I adore Illumaine, Percy Jackson and The Raven Cycle to pieces so I hope you like those!! I wasn’t the biggest fan of ACOTAR, but everyone else seems to love it haha. I’m reading The Book Thief at the moment and really enjoying it. I’ve yet to read any of the others either! So you’re not alone 😀

  4. You have to read The Book Thief. It is such a wonderful book. Please read it when you get a chance. I am thinking of reading six of crows too although its a genre that I dodn’t read. the hype has gotten to me though. great list!

  5. AAAHHH YOU GET ME. I honestly read the first few books of The Mortal Instruments and I’m just not interested in continuing. I picked them up purely for the hype and was sourly disappointed. A couple of super popular books that I haven’t read are oldies: Divergent AND The Hunger Games. Whoops…
