About the book:
Title: Because of Mr. Terupt
Author: Rob Buyea
Genre & Age Group: Realistic fiction, middle grade
It’s the start of fifth grade for seven kids at Snow Hill School. There’s . . . Jessica, the new girl, smart and perceptive, who’s having a hard time fitting in; Alexia, a bully, your friend one second, your enemy the next; Peter, class prankster and troublemaker; Luke, the brain; Danielle, who never stands up for herself; shy Anna, whose home situation makes her an outcast; and Jeffrey, who hates school.
Only Mr. Terupt, their new and energetic teacher, seems to know how to deal with them all. He makes the classroom a fun place, even if he doesn’t let them get away with much . . . until the snowy winter day when an accident changes everything—and everyone.

How I Found Out About It: Goodreads
Review: This book was fabulous! The suspense of it had me constantly sitting on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen. I couldn’t put it down, I just HAD to find out! The kids, though a bit stereotypical (e.g. the new kid, the bully, the nerd, the troublemaker), didn’t all get along at first, but the accident bonded them, changed them, and made them view life (and everyone in it) from a different lens. The kids dropped their “first-world problems” and started worrying only about the things that mattered, such as being supportive to each other during the time of worry and the possibility of loss. I won’t spoil what happened, but I would recommend that even if you aren’t into middle grade, READ THIS BOOK! It’s much too good to be missed, and it teaches such a good lesson of being thankful and friendly to others!
Rating: 5/5 Stars!
30 Day Book Challenge:
Today’s prompt is an overrated book! I have not really read any popular, hyped books that I have disliked, so I will change this to a popular, hyped book that I have never read! I have actually never read Divergent by Veronica Roth, but it is on my TBR! I hope to get to it along with many other monster reads this summer!
P.S. I finished my 2016 Goodreads goal of 50 books yesterday! I will probably extend it to 75 books now that I’m done 🙂
